CUSTOMER SERVICE & SECURITY ASSOCIATE

The Customer Service & Security Associate is responsible for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers and employees while protecting company assets. This dual role combines providing excellent customer service with maintaining store security, loss prevention, and adherence to company policies.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service

· Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.

· Provide directions, product information, and general assistance within the store.

· Support customers with trolley/basket use, or bagging when needed.

· Handle basic customer inquiries and escalate complaints to management when appropriate.

Security & Loss Prevention

· Monitor customer and staff activity to prevent theft, fraud, and safety hazards.

· Conduct regular patrols of the shop floor, entrances, and exits.

· Ensure security equipment (CCTV, alarms) is functioning properly and report any faults.

· Intervene politely and professionally in cases of suspicious activity, following company procedures.

· Assist in incident reporting, investigation, and maintaining accurate security logs.

Health, Safety & Compliance

· Ensure that store safety regulations and emergency procedures are followed.

· Assist with crowd control during peak shopping times.

· Maintain clear and safe access to exits at all times.

Team Support

· Work closely with store staff to maintain a safe, organized, and customer-friendly environment.

· Support in stock protection measures and help reduce inventory shrinkage.

· Participate in store training and security briefings.


Qualifications & Skills:

· Previous experience in retail, customer service, or security preferred.

· Good communication in the English language and good interpersonal skills.

· Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

· Strong observation and attention to detail.

· Basic understanding of security procedures and emergency response.

· Physically fit to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Licensed as a Security officer by the relevant local authority

· Approachable, friendly, and respectful.

· Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

· Discreet and trustworthy when handling sensitive situations.

· Assertive yet polite when addressing security concerns.


Working Conditions:

· Shift-based work, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

· Combination of standing/walking on the shop floor and monitoring security systems (if applicable).

· Uniform and ID badge will be provided.
